Head Idea Chef

Head Idea Chef

Meet William McCanless, your beloved Head Idea Chef. William began his career at the age of 19 covering bars and restaurants with a fake I.D. for a regional coastal Georgia magazine before being found out and let go a few issues in. Armed with the start of a portfolio, William entered into the somewhat respected field of high class literary prostitution. After a few years of standing on various seedy corners with a legal pad and a pen soliciting unsuspecting foot traffic that he’ll, “write whatever you want baby for a few bucks” he decided to turn his attention to the more lucrative field of marketing writing.

Since 2006 William has had his fingers, toes, and various other appendages immersed in a variety of literary mediums including journalism, copywriting, SEO, branding, script writing, and social media management. After working off and on as both a freelancer and certifiable employee for various online marketing and content development firms, William decided it was time to stick with his own business. Mainly because he hates wearing ties.

Besides the sick satisfaction he gets out of writing about himself in the third person, nothing gives William more pleasure than boiling a business’s or marketing campaign’s entire message down to a few simple words. He also loves coming up with witty, dialogue-driven scripts and marketing concepts.

William currently resides in the bustling, grid-locked metropolis of Atlanta, Georgia. When he isn’t scribbling furiously on napkins at the local watering hole or sitting under a tree with a notebook meditating on the next big idea for a client, he can be found riding his bike with his dogs Lady (a cute American Pitbull Terrier) and Sam (a furry Border Collie Mix).

William also enjoys the following:

    William, Lady and Sam

  • Training Wing Chun Kung Fu
  • Chess
  • TV shows about aliens, conspiracy theories, and ghosts
  • Painting
  • Writing
  • Traveling
  • Learning new things
  • Golfing
  • Fishing
  • Record players
  • Typewriters
  • Making long unnecessary lists
